3 Instant Focus Fixes
Posted by: Bev James In: Business Tips|EBA For Coaches|Mentor Articles|Mentoring|Tips For Success

Busy people often have trouble identifying the right things they should be focusing on in their business and often we as individuals get in the way of this.
Busy people often don’t use time management strategies and instead run headlong into the day without a plan for what the day should achieve.
Gill Fielding, one of our EBA Millionaire Mentors, is well know for her love of F-words – Focus being a main one and Flexibility another!
If you know in your heart that you are not achieving what you should be today, or this week so far, try each of these 3 instant focus fixers:
1. Schedule everything you do.
First, prioritise what you actually need to do – need, versus want/prefer. Identify the key timings and parameters for the imperative tasks and schedule the right amount of time for these activities into your diary, just like you do a meeting. Meet yourself and make the right things happen. Just keep prioritising – only do the things that only you can only do. Make this your mantra.
2. Find your time and energy drains and put the plug in!
If you did a time management study on a typical working well, ok, we dare you to do this anyway, you would find hours of time you are actually wasting on non-urgent, non bottom-line and unproductive activities. Set yourself an hourly rate so that for every hour you ‘waste’ you can see the cost of the time wasted. Everything within reason. If you can spend a productive 20 minutes doing something you currently spend hours on, go there… Practice extreme time management to carve back time for you to work on the business at strategic top-line level for the bottom-line benefit. Don’t allow yourself to get distracted.
3. Know when to stop.
We simply can’t work the long hours many of us do without stopping to rest and recharge. If you approach the burnout zone you simply don’t have the best functioning brain to guide you best on what you should be focusing on. Manage your business rather than it managing you. You will find that when you are less tired and mentally exhausted that you are able to prioritise and focus much much better.
