Marketing a business is not down to luck – it is a process and a skill that can be learned like any other, especially when you have a plan.

Technology is an awesome tool for business generation. It’s hard to imagine life without it isn’t it! We are definitely in the digital age and suffice to say that many businesses are inextricably interwoven with the world wide web.

Move over babyboomers, there are new kids on the block. Here comes Generation Y – the Facebook generation – who are changing the face of business forever. There is no such thing as ‘too young’ to be in business any more. There is a rising awareness of ‘youth power’.

In the old days – pre internet I mean – if you wanted to raise your profile the avenues available to you were print and broadcast media. Taking out an ad in Yellow Pages or your Thomson Local didn’t quite cut it, and still doesn’t. And let’s be honest, these days who actually looks for expert services in this way?

Traditional marketing relied on companies ‘shouting’ their messages at potential customers via channels such as TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, the letterbox and the phone. These marketing vehicles were crass in that however good the data a company was using, for most people, most of the time, these messages were simply deemed irrelevant.
