I often talk about the similarities between entrepreneurs and professional athletes. Both groups of people remain focused on being READY for success.

I started to lay down ground work for future success so when things turned around we would be ready to be successful again. I needed to get the team excited about what the future could bring but I had to be honest about the situation.

The recession has hit the so-called “Y Generation” very hard (that’s people born between 1980 and 1994 in case you were wondering. I know I was!). There are fewer jobs – and certainly no job security.

Businesses need cash to be able to pay staff on time, buy supplies, repay debts on time and to pay dividends etc. If you don’t have cash to pay a supplier when the payment is due, you might find you lose the trust of the supplier and the outlet AND they may declare your business insolvent.
