We interviewed Kate Pexton, founder of Consulte, for this month’s “Business in the Spotlight”. Here’s what we discovered about the business, the woman behind the business and her journey as a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Business Academy.

In the old days – pre internet I mean – if you wanted to raise your profile the avenues available to you were print and broadcast media. Taking out an ad in Yellow Pages or your Thomson Local didn’t quite cut it, and still doesn’t. And let’s be honest, these days who actually looks for expert services in this way?

When coaching, teaching and supporting people on their Digital Journey I create a step plan to help them work through the key areas to focus on. I have created this here for the EBA and hope this inspires some useful changes in the way you use the internet if it is not giving you the return you are looking to achieve for your business.

Technology is a powerful tool isn’t it for the communications industry? It’s my view that everyone now has the capacity to be a journalist because of social media networks, blogs etc and with the high speed nature of Twitter, for example, I think there is a need for us to be careful in what we use social media for.
